Ex-boyfriend accused of shooting at Sunnyside apartment, injuring teen

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — 28-year-old Julian Juarez is wanted by police investigators in Yakima County for allegedly firing multiple gunshots at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment when his demands to be let inside were ignored.
According to the Sunnyside Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 1300-block of S 6th St in Sunnyside around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 for reports of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, police made contact with a 19-year-old from Toppenish at the south end of the apartment complex. They quickly realized that he suffered a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.
The victim was transported to Astria Sunnyside Hospital for emergency evaluation and treatment before he was flown to a higher-level trauma center for more intensive care. No further details on his current status have been revealed to the public at this time.

When interviewing witnesses, officers developed reason to believe the Toppenish teen was visiting a female acquaintance at her apartment when Juarez arrived. Sunnyside Police say she recently ended her relationship with the suspect—a Yakima resident.
Authorities say the male victim looked out the window, leading Juarez to fire several gunshots into the apartment. He is accused of fleeing the scene in a light blue Mercedes Benz with the Washington license plate CBU0432.
Sunnyside Police are actively searching for Juarez, who they believe to be armed with a handgun. Anyone with information that may contribute to their search is urged to contact the Sunnyside Police Department via phone at 509-836-6200 or by email at CrimeTips@sunnyside-wa.gov.
