…EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY
EVENING…

The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued an Excessive
Heat Watch…which is in effect from Monday morning through
Tuesday evening.

* TEMPERATURES…Afternoon temperatures expected to range between
103 to 108 degrees.

* TIMING…Monday and Tuesday. Expect Monday afternoon
temperatures to climb over 100 degrees with little relief
overnight. Overnight temperatures will slowly fall into the
upper 60s and 70s by sunrise only to increase rapidly toward the
century mark and higher by Tuesday afternoon. There will be a
slight cooling Tuesday for the Columbia River Gorge.

* IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and limited relief overnight will
increase chances for heat related illness especially for those
without access to air conditioning. Heat stress is also
possible for livestock and outdoor pets.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will be possible. The hot
temperatures will create a dangerous situation in which heat
illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-
conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives
and neighbors.
