Families in need receive free food for the holidays

Second Harvest partnered up with Washington’s Beef Community to distribute food for families in need who live in Yakima.

Local ranchers from the area distributed beef along with other fresh food on Wednesday at the Yakima State Fair Park.

Families received all sorts of free fresh food items and beef which was donated by Washington’s Beef Community.

All of the beef donated was processed in a plant out in Toppenish.

Marketing Director Agri Beef Washington Jay Theiler said they’re always glad to help out the community.

“It’s heart breaking to see so much need around here so obviously it’s something we can do to help at Washington Beef and Washington’s Beef Community,” said Theiler. “We like to provide high quality protein for people who need it.”

On Thursday they will be distributing food in Ellensburg at the Washington Cattlemen’s Association from noon to 2 p.m.
