Family fun at Donuts with a Deputy Halloween Edition

On Saturday morning the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office had the opportunity to interact with community members while enjoying a Krispy Kreme donut.

The Sheriff’s Office hosted Donuts with a Deputy Halloween Edition and invited the community to take their children dressed up in their Halloween costumes.

The event was created for locals to talk with deputies in a friendly environment. It was held at the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store located on First Street in Yakima.

Casey Schilperoort, Yakima Sheriff’s PIO said it was great to see parents take their children to the event.

“The kids were excited to show us their Halloween costumes,” said Schilperoort. “This is an important event for us. We want to communicate with people.”

Chandra Bennett went with her sister-in-law and her nieces to the event.

“We actually had an officer come up to us and introduce himself, which we thought was really nice,” said Bennett. “It’s a great thing to have our law enforcement be involved in our community.”

Yakima County Sheriff’s Office is planning on having another event in the Lower Valley in November.
