Missing Yakama woman found dead near Goldendale
GOLDENDALE, Wash. — Missing Yakama woman Rachel Norris was found dead on Saturday in Klickitat County, according to Coroner David Quesnel
Rachel’s aunt, Kathryn Schwartz, said her car was found abandoned and totaled on Highway 14, about 10 miles south of Goldendale. Schwartz said Rachel’s car wasn’t visible from the Washington State side of the highway, but that someone on the Oregon side spotted it and called it in.
Klickitat County sheriff’s deputies found the car and recognized it as Rachel’s, Schwartz said. She said search and rescue teams found Rachel’s body a distance away from the car.
“I appreciate everybody’s help and prayers,” Schwartz said, adding that she would ask people to continue to pray for the family.
Rachel, 38, had been missing since Nov.14, 2019, when she disappeared after her Wapato home was destroyed in an accidental fire.
The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy.
