Fatal crash temporarily halts traffic on I-182 in Pasco

City of Pasco names new interim police chief

PASCO, Wash. — A fatal collision temporarily closed the eastbound lanes of I-182 at N 4th Avenue in Pasco early Friday morning (June 17).

An eastbound vehicle lost control and struck the guardrail, killing the driver.

Pasco Police Department tweeted out a notification of the incident just after 3 a.m., asking drivers to use alternate routes while investigators were on scene.

Just before 7 a.m., police sent an update, saying the highway had reopened and traffic was flowing normally.

Washington State Patrol says the 56-year-old male driver of the vehicle died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
