…RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO
8 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE
OKANOGAN VALLEY…WATERVILLE PLATEAU AND PORTIONS OF THE NORTHERN
* Affected Area: Fire Weather Zone 673 East Washington Northern
Columbia Basin and Fire Weather Zone 684 East Washington
* Winds: North 12 to 22 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Winds
decreasing late in the afternoon.
* Relative Humidities: 8 to 15 percent.
* Impacts: Gusty winds and low relative humidity on dry fuels will
promote rapid fire spread. The strongest winds are expected to
occur from 10 am to 2 pm while the lowest relative humidity
values will occur in the afternoon.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now….or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds…low relative humidity…and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
