First food truck opens at Kennewick’s Columbia Gardens wine village
KENNEWICK, Wash. – The Columbia Gardens Urban Wine and Artisan Village welcomed its first food truck this week.
Swampy’s Barbecue Sauce and Eatery took one of the six available spots.
Plans to bring in a food truck circle to the village have been in place since September. The organization asked food trucks to apply – and yesterday, Swampy’s Barbecue and Eatery became the first one to move into the location.
So far, business is booming according to the owner, Ron Swanby.
“Yesterday was our first day. We sold out of lunch yesterday at like 2,” Swanby said. “We prepared a little extra food today than we did yesterday and we still sold out by 12:30.”
For Swanby, it’s not all about business.
“I’m a Kennewick native,” he said. “If we can help bring vibrancy to this part of town, I’m all for it. I love the vision the port has for this area.”
Swampy’s Barbecue Sauce and Eatery will be at the village on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7-30 a-m to 7 p-m, Saturdays from 11 a-m to 7 p-m and Sundays from 11 a-m to 5 p-m.
