Franklin County deputies involved in fatal shooting return to work

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. — Three Franklin County deputies who were involved in a deadly shooting last month have returned to their regular duties.

In a news release, Sheriff Jim Raymond said Dep. Cody Quantrell fatally shot 28-year-old Dante Redmond Jones after a car chase while they were investigating an early morning report of a suspicious vehicle on Monday, Nov. 18.

Between Nov. 22 and 26, all three deputies voluntarily provided statements to the Special Investigations Unit in charge of the case.

Raymond said Dep. Quantrell gave a full explanation leading up to the use of lethal force. The other involved deputies, Sgt. Gordon Thomasson and Dep. Andrew Gardner, also gave accounts of what they witnessed.

The details of those accounts have not been released.

The Special Investigations Unit continues to gather information about the shooting incident. The results of the investigation will be forwarded to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.
