Franklin County Sheriff’s paying close attention to speeding this weekend
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. — Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies are conducting extra patrols and targeting speeding throughout the county this weekend after receiving requests for extra patrols in various areas.
Speeding contributed to over 26% of all traffic fatalities in Washington State in 2017 alone. Speeding also reduces the effectiveness of the occupant protection equipment in a crash, increases stopping distances when a driver perceives a danger and increases the degree of the severity in a crash.
The Sheriff’s Office says speed limits are put in place to protect everyone on the road, and faster does not mean safer.
