Grandfather Charged in Boy’s Death
Yakima County prosecutors have charged a Union Gap man in last year’s death of his 10-year-old grandson.
Steven Reedy, 58, was charged with manslaughter and unlawful firearms possession.
Nathaniel Reedy-McCoy was struck in the chest as he stood with his grandfather outside a trailer early on March 8, 2015.
He died at a local hospital.
Reedy told police that he and his grandson went outside to investigate why an electrical generator quit when the boy was shot.
An autopsy found the boy was killed by a gunshot fired from 2 to 6 feet away.
And investigators said Reedy was the only person that close to his grandson at the time.
