Gunfire struck a woman’s car as she drove in northeast Yakima Thursday afternoon.

She was going north on 4th street near P Street around 2:30 p.m when she heard a gun go off behind her. No one were reported, police said.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports multiple shell casings were found near the intersection where her car was shot.

One bullet hit the back and the other grazed the left side, police said.

The driver and her friend who was at the scene both denied having any gang ties when police spoke to them.

Police did not release a description of the assailant’s vehicle or how many people were inside.
