Guns on Campus: Toppenish School District Says Things Are No Different Then Before

Walla Walla PD Investigating Shooting

Toppenish School District allows teachers and administrators to carry concealed weapons – after being properly trained.

They implemented the rule at the beginning of the school year with 11 staff members being certified to carry concealed firearms. Superintendent John Cerna tells us that number is going up

“To me, I haven’t seen any difference in the personnel or administrators that are carrying and now we’re up to 16 as of about two weeks ago,” said Cerna

Cerna says he has been responding to emails and calls from school districts all over the country about how the district has gone about implementing the new rule.

Students and parents we talked to like the idea and say it makes them feel safer.
