Hanford firefighters burning tumbleweeds on SR 240 tomorrow, expect traffic delays
WEST RICHLAND, Wash. — Traffic delays are expected on Jan. 9 as Hanford firefighters burn some of the tumbleweeds on State Route 240.
WSDOT said the fire department will be doing a controlled burn along the highway. Workers will be diverting traffic through a two-mile section of the highway near Beloit Road.
The traffic diversion will be from about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On New Year’s Eve, gusts blew almost three-football fields worth of tumbleweeds that shut down the highway. Multiple cars were buried and WSDOT trucks were damaged.
