Head-on collision near Yakima sends 2 to hospital
A 52-year-old man and 56-year-old woman were transported via ambulance after a head-on collision in Terrace Heights, Wash.

On Wednesday afternoon, two people were injured in a head-on crash near Yakima.

A 59-year-old woman was cradling an item in her lap driving east on Terrace Heights Drive near Butterfield Road in a Mitsubishi Gallant. She reached down to grab it after it fell between her feet and veered into the westbound lane.

She hit the side of a 2003 Oldsmobile driving in the opposite direction. Her vehicle continued west in the wrong lane and she hit a 2017 Ford F-150 pickup head on. A 2010 Ford Fusion driving behind the pickup rear-ended it while attempting to get out of the way, according to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.

The 52-year-old man driving the pickup and his 56-year-old female passenger complained of neck and chest pain. They were transported via ambulance to a local hospital.

The Oldsmobile, F-150 and Gallant that caused the accident were completely totaled. The Gallant driver was cited for negligent driving.

Deputies said alcohol was involved.
