Hundreds of veterans in Kennewick receive free haircuts, clothing and lunch

Veterans Day is on Monday, but some local veterans were honored at an event in Kennewick on Friday.

The Columbia Basin Veterans Center held their 6th annual Stand Down and Expo at the Southridge Sports Pavilion, providing hundreds of veterans with free resources.

“It gives everyone a chance to look veterans in the eye and say thank you for their service and do something nice for a vet,” said Joetta Rupert, executive director of CBVC. “Our veterans kind of get overlooked once in a while.”

Hundreds of veterans were provided with free clothing, medical screenings and haircuts along with information on other available resources. Free lunch was also provided by Texas Roadhouse.
