I-82 reopens at Umatilla Bridge after multiple collisions

UPDATE (10:35 a.m.) — I-82 eastbound is now open at the Umatilla Bridge, according to Trooper Chris Thorson.

Traffic update: E/B Interstate 82 is now open from Washington into Oregon, over the Umatilla bridge.

UPDATE (9:10 a.m.) — Trooper Chris Thorson says westbound lanes are all clear.

ORIGINAL STORY — Washington State Patrol is responding to multiple crashes near the Umatilla Bridge on Monday morning.

I-82 eastbound is blocked as a result.

Multiple traffic alerts: I-82 at the Umatilla bridge , we are out with a 8-car pile up collision that is blocking the bridge. The highway is closed W/B near this location. Unknown ETA to open and unknown injuries at this time.

Trooper Chris Thorson tells KAPP-KVEW an 8-car pileup was reported on the Washington side.

He also said on the Oregon side, a 15-car pileup is blocking traffic.

There is no current estimated time of reopening.

Also in Richland, between milepost 102 and 105, there are also multiple spin out crashes.

Trooper Thorson says freezing fog and freezing roads are a factor.
