A long stretch of I-90 in Kittitas County will close next week and drivers will be told to take a half-hour-long detour.

The interstate will close twice from Cle Elum to Ellensburg, once for eastbound traffic and the other for westbound.

Here’s how the closure will affect Eastern Washington drivers who plan to go over Snoqualmie Pass after the weekend:

Closure #1
Eastbound I-90
11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 – 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17

Closure #2
Westbound I-90
7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18

Drivers will be told to use State Route 970 and Highway 97 in order to travel between the two cities. Washington State Department of Transportation says the detour will take 30 extra minutes.

The closure points will be at Exit 85 and Exit 106. The closure will allow a contractor working for WSDOT to replace two bridge decks.

And WSDOT says those aren’t next week’s only closures:

Drivers will also experience lane closures westbound near Ellensburg between 5:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 through Saturday, Dec. 22.
