EWU hopes to end season on high note

CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington football will end its season Saturday at home against Northern Colorado.

The team will also celebrate senior day.

EWU senior defensive lineman Mitchell Johnson says he wants to win by any means necessary.

“It’s a lot of emotion,” Johnson said. Obviously, my last game in my Eastern career with this group of guys. It’s bittersweet. But all we care about is finding a way to win.”

The Eagles come into the contest at 2-7 overall with a three-game losing streak.

“We’ve searched. We’ve scratched. We’ve had different lineups, done different things, different variables,” head coach Aaron Best said. “Once we get ahead in something we fall back in something else. Just playing, make the game simple this Saturday, play as fast as we can, as well as we can, as together as we can, like we do every week. We just got to be 1-0.”

Kickoff between EWU and Northern Colorado is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday from Roos Field.
