Lightning Starts 2 Wildfires In Boundary County, Level 2 Evacuations Issued

BONNERS FERRY, Idaho — Lightning strikes started two wildfires in Boundary County on Wednesday night, sparking on Katka Peak and Ball Creek.

The fire on Katka Peak is around 30 acres and is a mile and a half away from structures on Katka Road. The second on Ball Creek is burning near Scotch Creek and is around 45 acres.

About 12 homes on Westside Road are under Level 2 evacuations — meaning GET SET to leave. The Scotch Creek fire is burning two to three miles from Westside Road.

Evacuations are for Westside Road from Ball Creek south to Burton Creek. People living in the area should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice.
