People living near Soap Lake wildfire told to evacuate immediately

NEW DETAILS: Soap Lake wildfire burns across 300+ acres as Grant County fire crews mop up three others

SOAP LAKE, Wash. — Level 3 evacuations – meaning LEAVE NOW – are in place for people living near a wildfire in Soap Lake.

Evacuations are impacting people in the following areas:

  • Adrian Road 2 of SR 2
  • 21000 block Rd D.5 NE
  • Area of Road D.5 NE and 20.6 NE
  • Area of Road D.5 NE and 20.7 NE
  • East of Soap Lake

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says 37 homes are threatened.

The fire has also closed part of State Route 28, east of the junction with SR 17. It is burning on both sides of the road.

N Frontage Road between Hiawatha and Division is also closed.

There is currently no detour available and no estimated time for reopening.

The Grant County Public Utility District says there are two separate power outages as a result of the fire. About 100 customers in Soap Lake and 300 customers in Winchester are affected.
