Judge Agrees to Push Back Arlene’s Flowers Trial

Arlene’s Flower Owner Writes an Op-Ed for Washington Post

A Benton County judge agrees to push back a consolidated trial of a local flower shop refusing to provide flowers for a same-sex couple’s wedding.

The couple, Robert Ingersoll and Curt Freed are suing Arlene’s Flowers owner Baronelle Stutzman for discrimination.

The state is also suing Stutzman for consumer protection.

On a conference call in court today, the plaintiff asked the trial date of Jan. 20th not be pushed back because there has already been so much of a delay.

Judge Elex Ekstrom said it was neither parties fault that things have been delayed and he accepted the defense’s request to move the trial date to late March or early April next year.

Ekstrom will decide on a new trial date by the end of the week.
