Juventus beats MLS All-Stars on penalties
Juventus beat the MLS stars on penalty kicks Wednesday night after the MLS All-Star Game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Hometown star Josef Martinez of the Atlanta United FC scored the only goal for the MLS All-Stars while Andrea Favilli scored for the Italian powerhouse.
Juventus scored on all five of its penalties at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to win 5-3. The MLS stars scored on their first three penalties, but Bradley Wright-Phillips of New York Red Bulls hit their fourth attempt off the left post.
Mattia De Sciglio then connected with his shot into the upper left corner past Columbus goalkeeper Zack Steffen to seal the victory.
It was the second straight year that the MLS All-Star Game was decided on penalties after ending in a 1-1 draw. Last year, Real Madrid beat the MLS stars 4-2 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
One star missing from Juventus in the game was recently acquired Cristiano Ronaldo, who remained in Europe to rest after playing in the World Cup with Portugal.
