Kadlec lights Giving Tree for two local organizations
RICHLAND, Wash. — Kadlec is teaming up with two local organizations this holiday season.
My Friends’ Place and the Division of Children and Family Services will benefit from this year’s Giving Tree. On Wednesday morning, Kadlec lit their tree to kick off the fundraiser.
Certainly in the spirit of the season of giving there’s a way for everyone in our community can support and really just meet basic needs, but hopefully more than that, also just really bless organizations and kids in our community that could really use it this season,” said Emily Volland, Kadlec’s Community Relations Manager.
The tree has tags on, some with wishlists on them. For My Friends’ Place, a local teen homeless shelter, they’re collecting a variety of items — some we may take for granted.
“We see things like socks or notebooks or food,” Volland said. “Some kids ask for food, so they kind of know where their next meal is going to come from.”
DCFS has teamed up with the Richland Fire Department to collect stuffed backpacks, hoping to fill them with items for children in the foster care system.
You can find a tree at several Kadlec clinics across the Tri-Cities.
