The Kennewick Fire Department has had a record-breaking more than 10,000 calls this year; firefighters say it’s the first time the number has reached five digits.

The department says it runs the highest amount of calls in the region. With five stations and six crews, Kennewick firefighters cover all 911 EMS, ambulance transport and firefighting duties in the area — including Finley.

They also respond to calls for vehicle accidents, hazardous materials and technical rescues.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, the department called the record call total for the year, “a huge milestone.”
