Kennewick installs outdoor fitness center at local park
KENNEWICK, Wash. — It’s becoming a trend across the nation and now the city of Kennewick is on board.
Right now a new outdoor fitness center is being installed at Sunset Park right across the street from Sunset View Elementary School.
It will be the first outdoor facility of its kind in the city.
Evelyn Lusignan, spokesperson for the city of Kennewick, said it comes following community feedback.
“Fitness is a big hot item for a lot of our residents and so this was a great opportunity,” said Lusignan. “We are definitely always looking at ways to a new amenities to our parks,” she said. “Parks are important to our community, they add to her quality of life.”
Constructions started about two months ago but was delayed from the weather.
The city expects it to be done soon.
The total cost is about $120,000, paid for by park developments funds made up of taxpayer dollars.
