Kennewick man arrested for alleged rape of a child
KENNEWICK, Wash. — Kennewick Police arrested a 29-year-old man accused of sexually abusing a child.
Detectives say Osiel Rivera Vallejo was booked into the Benton County Jail on April 12 for rape of a child in the first degree and child molestation. According to police, the female victim was exhibiting self-harming behavior. It was soon recognized by a staff member at the victim’s school.
The staff member notified the child’s mother, who then took her to Tri-City Community Health. That’s when the victim disclosed the abuse. She said Vallejo abused her twice about a year ago.
According to police, Vallejo knew the victim. Investigators worked with the prosecutor’s office to confirm a probable cause arrest, if they could locate Vallejo.
He showed up where the victim’s mother was on April 12, and she called police.
Vallejo is expected to appear in court this week.
