Juvenile suspect in custody for Kennewick shooting two weeks prior

UPDATE at 5:00 p.m. on July 22: Two weeks after a shooting that sent a juvenile victim to the hospital, Kennewick detectives brought a juvenile suspect into custody

According to KPD Lt. Ryan Kelly, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1400-block of S Fir St on July 22 after obtaining information to suggest the shooter was at this location.

They made contact with the suspect and brought him into custody as crews searched the home for evidence of the shooting. He was later booked on an investigative hold for Assault to the first-degree and Unlawful possession of a firearm.

KENNEWICK – The Kennewick Police Department is looking for the person who shot a juvenile near Garden Vista Park Friday afternoon.

It happened just before 1:30 p.m. on the 400 block of East 10th Avenue.

Officers responded after a call for help was made after shots were fired in the area. When officers got to the scene, they found a juvenile male with a gunshot wound.

The male was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay at this time.

Officers Jose Mata with the Kennewick Police Department said the gunman ran from the scene and officers are out searching for them. Officer Mata said investigators believed the shooting was not random and there is no current threat to the public.
