Kennewick police seize marijuana candy shop from vehicle

Police found an illegal candy stash on Friday after investigating a suspicious vehicle.

It was no ordinary candy.

The Kennewick Police Department confiscated dozens of baggies filled with marijuana-infused sweets. It found gummy bears, peppermints, chocolates, sour gummy worms and more – all manufactured with pot and sealed in small ziplock packages.

Deputies served a search warrant on the vehicle, which had previously been seized for a drug investigation.

The amount of marijuana in the car exceeded the legal limit for recreational consumption.

In Washington, citizens over the age of 21 are allowed to have up to an ounce of marijuana and up to 16 ounces of solid marijuana-infused product. The drug has been legal to sell in stores throughout the state since July of 2014.

Police noted a lot of the suspect’s candy looked store-bought. The department is encouraging citizens to know where their food is coming from before consumption.
