KENNEWICK, Wash. — Police officers forced entry into a residence where the woman was found with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound on Wednesday night.

According to a report from the Kennewick Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 8600-block of W 1st Ave for reports of a domestic incident around 7:50 p.m. on May 25. Investigators learned that she unlawfully entered her ex-boyfriend’s residence and caused a disturbance.

The reporting party was the ex-boyfriend, who fled from the building and called 9-1-1 for assistance removing her. Little did he know, the woman was arming herself with at least one gun after he exited the residence.

KPD officers arrived at the house and made contact with the woman to de-escalate the situation. They said that she was uncooperative and disinterested in complying with their suggestions.

Police say that the woman then fired at least one round, leading KPD officials to activate the SWAT team. They relieved local police officers and tried to make contact with the woman, who did not respond to any of their calls.

Eventually, they forced entry into the building and located the woman. She was pronounced deceased at the scene with what KPD officials called a “self-inflicted gunshot wound.” Her identity has not been revealed to the public due to the sensitive nature of this incident.

This is a breaking news story. An update and/or follow-up may be issued if further details are publically revealed.
