KID officials warn residents to keep watch for burrowing animals near canal
KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Kennewick Irrigation District is trying to prevent another disaster like the canal break damaging and even destroying some homes near 12th Avenue and Columbia Center Boulevard back in July.
The neighborhood filled with water in the middle of the night, as a result of a burrowing animal in the canal behind homes, trying to stay warm in last summer’s record heat.
This year KID officials are warning residents to keep an eye out for these animals so history, doesn’t repeat itself.
Burrowing animals have been an ongoing challenge for the KID.
Officials are asking for your help.
If you see any signs of activity from these animals give them a call at (509) 586-9111 or email KID at email@example.com.
