Kittitas one of the nation’s fastest growing counties in 2016 and the only in Washington state
ELLENSBURG, Wash. — “Just sky rocketing lately,” said Coldwell Banker real estate broker Larry Sharpe.
Larry Sharpe has been a real estate broker for Coldwell Banker for about 15-years now, and said ever since, the housing market in Kittitas County has been growing constantly.
Reason why he’s not surprised with the counties new ranking.
“Cause people want to move here, every time a house comes on the market now in Kittitas County it’s lucky to last a week,” said Sharpe.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau Kittitas County is the 10th fastest growing county.
From 2015 to 2016 the population grew from 43, 057 to 44,866, an increase of 4.2 percent.
“The last 3 to 4 years have just been crazy,” added Sharpe.
Sharpe said the recent growth is being fueled by King County’s high housing market.
Making house buyers look the other way.
“You can buy the same house over here probably for a third of the cost,” said Sharpe.
Adding that the amount spent on commuting from Kittitas County to King County is still less because of the amount saved on a home.
“You know a house in, say Bellevue or Issaquah that are like 600 to 700 thousand now you can buy it for 250 to 300 here,” said Sharpe.
But because of high demand in the area Sharpe said it’s a seller’s market right now instead of a buyers.
Yet, a continuous growing market.
“I don’t see it slowing down in the near future either,” said Larry Sharpe.
