Kittitas shooting suspect took pregnant girlfriend’s car, she says
ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The man police say shot and killed Kittitas County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Thompson reportedly argued with his girlfriend before taking her keys and leaving with her car on the day of the incident.
The woman told KAPP-KVEW she met 29-year-old Juan Manuel Flores Del Toro about three years ago and they’d been living together since November. She said she’s two months pregnant with his child.
The woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said she had an argument with Flores Del Toro and he stormed off hours before he shot Deputy Thompson and Kittitas Police Officer Benito Chavez.
She said Flores Del Toro told her he was going to the store, so she didn’t report that her car had been taken. It was the same car seized from the scene of the crime after the shooting.
Ellensburg police said the man got into a road rage incident before fleeing from deputies, leading them to the end of South Pierce Street in the city of Kittitas.
He got into a shootout with authorities, killing Thompson and seriously injuring Chavez before Del Toro was also fatally shot, authorities said.
The Ellensburg Police Department is investigating the shooting.
