KPD looking for suspects in assault at Columbia Center Mall

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Police are looking to identify multiple suspects after an assault at the Columbia Center Mall on the evening of June 17, 2022.

“Two victims, a male and female adult, were walking through the mall. They were approached by a group of three males who have not been identified,” said Lieutenant Ryan Kelly, the Kennewick Police Department PIO. “The suspects made some gang related comments, and then assaulted the male victim.”

Lt. Kelly said that the suspects reportedly made gang-related comments, though we do not have information on what the suspects said. Kennewick Police have not confirmed the motive of the assault.

The assault took place in front of the Bath and Body Works in the Columbia Center Mall, according to Lt. Kelly.

When police arrived, the suspects had fled the scene.

“The victims, as soon as they were assaulted, they called the police. Officers responded. The suspects were gone,” Lt. Kelly said.

The male victim was the only one struck, but he sustained minor injuries, Lt. Kelly said. The female victim did not obtain any injuries.

Kennewick Police have continued their investigation, with more details to come.

“They did obtain some video of the suspects and some images, and so it’s actively being investigated,” Lt. Kelly said.
