Land Deal Finalized for West Richland Middle School

The Richland School District finalized the purchase of a 32-acre land parcel near the intersection of Keene Road and Belmont Boulevard in West Richland. The cost is $1.6 million.
The land will be used for the District’s fourth middle school. The new school will be approximately 108,000 square feet in size and house 800 students. Construction is schueled to begin in February of 2016, and the projected opening is in August 2017.
In June 2014, the Richland School Board selected Design West, Kennewick, to be the architectural firm for the project. Board members approved the schematic design in November. District voters approved a bond issue for the new middle school and eight other projects in February 2013. Details on the projects are available at: www.rsd.edu/about/2013-bond-issue.html
