Large fire shuts down Prosser streets

Prosser – City officials are asking everyone to avoid the area around 7th Street and Stacey Avenue in downtown Prosser as firefighters are dealing with a large fire at M & E Seed and Grain Company.

Yakima County Fire District #5 posted this picture on social media of a fire in downtown Prosser.

A picture from the scene shows what appears to be a storage building and nearby power poles on fire. Yakima County Fire District #5 posted a picture from the scene saying they were assisting with a fire in an “old all timber building.”

City officials say the fire began just after 8:00 Wednesday evening. Investigators have not said how the fire started, although it quickly grew out of control.
