Legends Casino Hotel gives back to local community
TOPPENISH, Wash. — Yakima non-profit organizations received support Tuesday night in Toppenish.
Legends Casino Hotel honored its annual grant distribution tradition, giving back over $900,000 dollars to the community.
The Yakima Police Department (YPD) received over $5,000 dollars towards it’s forensic and auto theft units, and casino officials say they were excited to help contribute to community safety.
“We love to be able to help the police department because they have done so much for us,” Legends Casino Hotel Assistant Marketing Director, Deirdre Fojuwaye said.
While YPD officials shared just how this grant will help.
“We will be able to completely capture our crime scene and our collision scenes as it stands. In turn we will be able to reconstruct those to present them into court in a professional and concise manner for juries to be able to review accurate information,” Yakima Police Department, Forensic Lab Supervisor, Kristen Drury said.
YPD, schools, hospitals, and two hundred other non-profit organizations showed up to sign off on their grants, take pictures with their checks, and enjoy food at the casino.
