Local law enforcement educates parents on internet safety
KENNEWICK, Wash.– Kennewick Police Department hosted a free class on internet safety, hoping to educate parents on the dangers kids may face online.
The class covered topics such as common cell phone applications, how to spot predators online, and ways parents can better monitor their children’s online activity.
“It’s popular to have as many likes as you can and have as many followers as you can, but often times those followers without knowing them could have bad intent on the other end,” said Chris Guerrero, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division at Kennewick Police Department.
Guerrero said the recent arrests of 26 men accused of trying to solicit sex with minor children online shed light on the issue within the community.
