Mac-Hi student arrested for school shooting threat
MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore. — A Mcloughlin High School student was arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot up the school on Friday Sept. 14.
Classes at all schools in the Milton-Freewater School District are canceled Friday after law enforcement deemed the threat to be credible.
The school district said it learned about the threat from law enforcement at about 5 a.m. Friday morning, after receiving an email from local law enforcement about 11 p.m. the previous day.
On Thursday, the student reportedly said they were going to shoot up the high school, starting with the science wing.
The student will remain in custody over the weekend, and all school activities planned for the weekend will go on as scheduled.
“The district understands canceling school on short notice is difficult for students and families, but student safety is a number one priority. We thank everyone for their cooperation,” the district said in a statement.
