Man accused of dairy farm killing pleads not guilty to murder

A man accused of shooting and killing a dairy farm worker in Milton-Freewater appeared in a Umatilla County courtroom for his arraignment on Monday.

Antonio Vasquez-Vargas, 52 pleaded not guilty to murder. He confirmed his name was Antonio Vasquez-Vargas, as the sheriff’s office previously said he has several aliases.

Vasquez-Vargas is accused of killing his coworker 35-year-old Renee Luiz-Antonio while he operated a tractor at Umapine Creamery on Nov. 26.

He was arrested at the Clover Island Inn in Kennewick and waived extradition to Oregon, where he was booked into Umatilla County jail on Friday.

His bail was set at $500,000. His next court appearance is on December 31.
