Man arrested for stealing railroad ties in Benton County

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – Deputies arrested a man for stealing railroad ties in Benton County early Friday.

According to the department, deputies were sent to Ayers Road after reports of a suspicious vehicle and someone stealing railroad ties from BNSF Railway Company.

Deputies found a 34-year-old man who told them he “thought he could take these.”

If you come across property ON private property, don’t assume it’s free please. Be safe!” wrote Benton County deputies in a Facebook post.

The man was taken into custody for theft and trespassing. He was booked into the Benton County Jail.
