Man Dead After Police-Involved Shooting in Yakima
One man is dead and a Yakima Police officer is on administrative leave after police responded to a domestic violence disturbance call early this evening.
According to our media partner, the Yakima Herald-Republic, two men were found fighting in an attached garage when officers arrived.
One of the men pulled out a handgun and the officer fired at the man.
A criminal investigation will be conducted and then that information will be forwarded to the Yakima County Prosecutor’s Office which will determine if the shooting is justified.
While the investigation is ongoing, the officer is on administrative leave.
This is the first fatal officer-involved shooting by Yakima Police since 2014.
