Man seriously injured after hitting boat propeller in Columbia River
TRI-CITIES, Wash. — A man was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a boat propeller.
The crash happened Saturday afternoon on the Columbia River near Hydro Island. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said a man in his mid 20’s was getting on a boat after tubing behind it.
Before he was on all the way, the boat driver started to drive the boat forward. It lunged, causing the man to be thrown out of the boat.
He received injuries from the propeller and was sent to the hospital. A Franklin County sergeant tells KAPP-KVEW that his injuries are serious.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
“Franklin County wants to remind boaters to stay seated when the boat is moving,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
