Man takes off from Kennewick police, jumps into the Columbia River

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Officers arrested a 38-year-old man for warrants and trespassing, but not without a chase into the Columbia River.

Kennewick Police received a call at 4:30 p.m. Saturday about a suspicious man trespassing on private property. Officers found Nicholas Jacome near Kennewick and First avenues.

They discovered that he had warrants for his arrest. Police say Jacome decided to take off from them and jump into the river. About 15 minutes after negotiating with him, he came out and was arrested.

Jacome was treated at the hospital before being booked on multiple charges including trespassing, obstruction, resisting arrest and his warrants.
