RICHLAND, Wash. — Those in need of a healthy balanced meal are receiving support Saturday.
After the first annual Meals on Wheels Blue Brigade Fun Run and Walk Fundraiser that took place at Howard Amon Park in Richland.
Hundreds of community members made donations and came together to rally behind the cause.
One meals on wheels chef says volunteering for the non-profit organization is a rewarding experience to be a part of and hopes will continue year after year.
“To see the joy that we bring to our guest when we deliver the food, it’s so much more than just a warm meal. The camaraderie and getting to see somebody every day with a warm smiling face you know it really just means so much more to the seniors than just getting the warm meal,” Meals on Wheels volunteer chef Brian Kinner said.
The non-profit organization heavily relies on community donations and feeds over 500 people per day throughout the week.
