Milton-Freewater man jailed, accused of slashing homeless man
MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore. — Police have made an arrest in the case of a Milton-Freewater man who was slashed in the back and seriously injured.
MFPD arrested 27-year-old Krystian Thomas Allen on Thursday in connection to Sunday’s attack on George Anthony Martin.
Officers found Martin, 60, standing in the 500 block of N. Elizabeth St., bleeding from a cut to his lower back. They learned he had been attacked at 392 Raspberry Loop.
Police began to suspect Allen was behind the slashing. Four days later, officers found him at 618 County Rd. and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
Police say it was a sharp-edged cutting weapon, presumably a knife.
Allen is being held at the Umatilla County Jail on $60,000 bail.
Martin was treated at St. Mary Hospital in Walla Walla.
Police say Martin is homeless and Allen is “presumed homeless.” Both live in Milton-Freewater. Investigators don’t know what prompted the attack.
