KENNEWICK, Wash. — MOD Pizza is planning to open by the Columbia Center Mall in late August, a spokeswoman for the restaurant confirmed Wednesday.

The Seattle-based build-your-own-pizza chain is opening in a new building that just broke ground at 1659 N Columbia Center Blvd. across the street from PC Penney.

Evelyn Lusignan, spokeswoman for the City of Kennewick, said the 7,363-square-foot development is designed for up to three tenants. No other business have obtained permits for the building so far.

Lusignan said the contractor for the building is Stephens and Sons Construction, which is based in Yakima.

This will be the second MOD Pizza to open in Tri-Cities. The first one opened in Richland’s Queensgate area in May 2017.
