More Cases of West Nile Virus Reported in Benton and Franklin County
The local health district is investigating several more human cases of West Nile Virus.
Just this week, five were reported in Benton County and one was reported in Franklin County. In addition, two unvaccinated horses and multiple samples of mosquitoes have also been identified with the virus within Benton County this Summer.
Prior to this week, just one human case of West Nile in the area was detected.
Health officials say the best way to protect yourself is to “Fight the Bite”
Do this by-
-Staying in doors between dusk and dawn when mosquitos are most active.
-Wearing a mosquito repellent with deet.
-Drain sources of standing water around your home so mosquitos can’t breed.
