Multi-car crash on I-82 south of Kennewick sends several to the hospital
TRI-CITIES, Wash. — Several people were sent to the hospital after a multi-car crash on I-82, 12 miles east of Kennewick.
The crash happened shortly before noon on Sunday. Blowing dust made visibility extremely low. Kennewick Fire said they took several people to the hospital and their injuries were not critical.
I-82 eastbound was closed as the crash blocked all the lanes. As of 2:30 p.m., the highway at milepost 124, seven miles west of the Oregon state line, remains closed due to blowing dust and poor visibility, according to WSDOT.
WSDOT said the crashes have been cleared, but they are keeping it closed for safety reasons.
Traffic is being rerouted to Locust Grove Road.
An estimated time to reopen the highway is unknown.
