Neighboring houses catch fire in Pasco

PASCO, Wash.– Pasco Fire Department responded to two house fires Sunday afternoon on the 4000 block of Vista Place.

PFD Public Information Officer, Ben Shearer, said the fires started after a residence down the hill from the properties was conducting controlled burns, despite it being a no-burn day. The brush caught fire and spread up to the homes, catching the roofs on fire.

Fire officials said the heat and winds played a role in the fire spreading to both homes. They urge people to listen to burn advisories to prevent fires from happening.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the fire, though Shearer said one resident was injured after he tripped and fell.
